His incredible talent was known to everyone who ever heard him play.
He was a Great Husband, Father, Grandpa, Son, and of course the finest brother anyone could ask for.
Dave touched more lives through his unselfish love, honesty, true concern, and his caring for others
than anyone I've ever known. His many silent successes spoke loud to the many of us who were
fortunate enough to know him. He will always be missed but never ever forgotten.

I Love You Dave More than anything and always will.. Always.

My wedding day and my best man, best friend...my brother, on top of Pilot Mountain in North Carolina.
There's simply no words to explain what Dave meant to me as a brother and someone I always wanted to be like.

No matter how long I live, I'll never die being half the man he lived to be.

1 Year Later...

The following pictures were taken in the exact location (Fairfield Causeway) where my Brother was found.
They were taken March 4th, exactly one year after his death.
(3 days before what would have been his 59th birthday, March 7th)

We held a candle light vigil in his honor.

- Thanks to everyone who took the time to send me pictures -

I want to thank Tom & Debbie Gentry for leaving the nice flowers in Dave's memory.
Tom & Debbie have been friends with Dave & Pam for well over 40 years. They had planned
to make it to the vigil but due to sickness, were unable to. Their thoughts are what
counts. Thank you both so much for your understanding, love and thoughtfulness, and
for paying your respects for Dave, such a fine person, even during your sickness.

My life has been changed...forever. I've still not found the words to express
the pain and emptiness living without him.

Well here goes:

It's been over a year now since my brother was found on the Fairfield Causeway in Brookville Indiana. I'm not ashamed to say I cry over his loss every single day, without exception. In spite of my best efforts, losing this battle over Dave's loss is something I haven't been able to cope with. I've tried everything I could think of, but nothing has brought any relief from the hurt and loss of such a great man...and brother. I also lost my best friend...the person I could talk to anytime about anything for as long as needed. Of course that went both ways. For those of you who Dave can relate to most of what I'm saying. Despite what you have read or heard, Dave was an extremely honest and upstanding Man. A earnest provider, always giving of himself to others in need. A quote from a couple newspapers went like this"

"Assistant Butler County Prosecutor Dan Ferguson said investors began to raise questions when monthly interest payments they had received stopped after Colwell's death."

(AFTER COLWELL'S DEATH)
(That says a lot to me and it should to you also...though it seems to be a passed over statement.)

David would never do anyone wrong. He had everything to live for. I know nothing about 'securities license' but I do know he would never cheat anyone out of  anything. I say this not only as his brother, but I knew; really knew, the real David Colwell.

That's why this battle seems almost over for me. So far, I've been unable
to find a way to face each day without him.

Why?

Can anyone tell me why bad things happen to good people?
Some people believe in fate. I use to. No more.
Some say when your number (or time) is up, that's it.
Nope, don't believe that one either.
Do you believe God takes people at a certain time?
What about plane crashes when sometimes 100's are killed at once?
Was that everyone's time to die? Well, I don't think so.
Does anyone know this? Does anyone
have a different insight than me on this subject and can
put it into words??
If you do, please send me an email through this site and
tell me why your God is different or why you
believe the way you do.

Who is God anyway??

You may contact me @ DC@DarrellColwell.com
I can't promise a quick reply as I'm still having an extremely hard time dealing with this.
